Katy was always the girl who stayed in shape and stayed sharp, but her shape may change and sharp may dull after Katy surprises her friends with the superyacht she found docked in a hidden coastal cove.
Looking for adventure during the summer after high school, they all are at first impressed with the yacht, a posting at the end of its extended dock promising summer jobs as deckhands.
But this yacht is run by Serena Pernicious, a viciously twisted witch seeking her own magical method of revenge. Will she shape her new deckhands into just the corrupted creature crew she needs, where mermaids splash and cat girls purr and no gender is safe or secure?
Over 14,000 Words of Kreme!
Katy has to think back on the hot summer day that everything started, but it’s quite the story and no one could deny it was a day she and her friends would find their lives changing forever. They say witches aren’t real, just a funny costume to wear at Halloween… but the summer between high school and college, Katy and her friends found out how real one witch could be.
Dragging her friends along the hiking trails where Katy gets in daily jogs, none of them seem too thrilled. It’s hot outside and the twins are being their typical selves, Analeigh and Leighanne wearing ridiculously uncomfortable heels because they thought they might meet boys. Along for Katy’s surprise adventure is Leighanne’s boyfriend Tommy, the quiet simple jock of the group, and Katy’s own underwhelming student of an older brother, Kellen, a part of their graduating group due to his being held back.
None of them are wild about whatever big surprise Katy has to show them, all of them having been dreaming of some big adventure after school, a time when they could go anywhere and do anything… not than any of them could figure out how, not having jobs. But Katy claims her surprise will solve everything… something she spotted on her morning jog along the eastern seaboard coast.
When they reached the top of the ridge, everyone could see just why this surprise was so unique… a massive superyacht docked in a small hidden cove among the coastal wilderness. At the end of an extended dock from this incredible yacht is a sign that simply reads Hiring Deckhands for Summer, and Katy knows this is just the adventure she and her friends were looking for, not to mention the jobs they needed.
But there are questions of course, like why would such an impressive superyacht dock in the middle of nowhere to pick up crew instead of at a major port, perhaps ones closer to places like Salem not too far away? Or what would any of them know about being deckhands on a yacht?
All becomes clear when the five of them meet the stunningly beautiful, intense raven-haired woman that apparently owns and runs this superyacht… a woman by the name of Serena Pernicious.
From the moment she speaks, her intensity and arrogance are clear, a cruel woman who seems to hide her own secrets, her own hidden agenda… but Katy and her friends will never be able to escape the modern twist on a gingerbread house trap they’ve walked into.
Leading the five aboard, Serena assumes her role as Captain, and Katy and the others meet the current guests of a business cruise on the superyacht… but all of the men seem frozen in place, awaiting the crew that will see to their needs. It’s too late to back away, to escape their fates as Serena Pernicious formally introduces herself, a powerful witch whose ancestors were nearly wiped out generations before during the Salem Witch Trials.
She has returned with a plan to seek her revenge in a way of regaining all the power once taken, and modern power depends on finances and influence, something her guests will be able to provide once Serena is done working her lingering magic on throughout their stay on her superyacht.
But is Serena Pernicious truly the one they once called Pernicious the Vicious, a cruel witch of infinite power seeking her revenge… or is she just crazy like Katy assumes? She definitely seems to have some sort of power, an influence not to mess with as Katy’s brother Kellan learns when he, being the troublemaker he always has been, talks back to their new Captain.
They are already adrift, out at sea, and each of them will discover that if they want to make it to port, they must do their best to become exactly the crew Serena needs. The only question remaining is how twisted their minds and bodies may become in serving the whims of a cruel witch whose superyacht they now call home.
It’s an epic twisted tale with actual tails, where mermaids and cat girls serve the increasingly perverse whims of entranced guests and no one can answer the one question everyone may be thinking… Witch Way to Port?
