When Katie Jensen decides to spite her father and get a part time job at T-mart in order to prove their innocence… she may just be ending her own.
Congressman Roland Jensen went on a successful political crusade against Trance-tory and nearly shut down every T-mart in the country. But the T-mart Groceries where Katie remembered going as a girl remains… unfortunately showing its age.
Will the willful redhead Katie find her good intentions lead to bad behavior when she is hired and put in charge of something called orgasmic apples?
Find out in the first original Kreme tale to feature T-mart since it was featured in the successful comic series Trance-tory Takeover years ago!
Katie Jensen is doing something her father most definitely would not approve of, getting a part time job. But to be fair, this is a part time job almost any father in the country would no longer approve of… not after Katie’s father Congressman Roland Jensen went on a quite successful crusade against the chain of stores known as T-mart.
Trance-tory has always had questionable products, but only T-mart was the place where supposed mind-altering training films and other highly ethically-questionable behavior were rumored to be going on, leading the conservative congressional candidate to campaign and make T-mart Groceries into nothing short of a villain, a place women could never shop safely.
The outdated design and old poorly amplified store music speaks to the unfortunate success of mass closings across the country that Roland Jensen’s campaign led to. But Katie still remembers shopping at the old T-mart she sits in waiting for the store manager of. It was never a scary place, but it’s nearly a ghost town now, few shoppers, even fewer who are actually women. And the only woman she’s seen so far is so bundled up and disguised, she almost doesn’t look like a woman. Most women these days wouldn’t set one foot inside a T-mart, which is why manager Brock Miller is just as confused as any of the somewhat stunned male shoppers to see a pretty eighteen year old girl like Katie sitting there waiting.
Questioning her motives, concerned she might be wanting the job as a spy for her father’s supporters, Katie makes it very clear that her intentions are entirely the opposite. She just wants to prove that unlike Tech-N-Toys where a lot of evidence has been found to support her father’s criticisms, T-mart is a good old-fashioned grocery store, a friendly place with friendly people. She figures if someone sees Congressman Jensen’s own daughter working safely and wholesomely in a T-mart Groceries… everything will start to improve. Maybe she can undo some of the damage he did.
Skeptical but also stuck since new diversity requirements pretty much make it law to hire a certain amount of female staff, Brock Miller is going to give Katie a chance… but will Katie soon discover that everything her father accused Trance-tory of doing, if it wasn’t true before… is true now?
Taking Katie right to start her job, no uniform needed since no one hardly shops the store anyway, Brock Miller is showing her the produce department. And that is where he points out that their all-time best selling produce is the large assortment of apples Trance-tory specially provides.
But unlike most stores, T-mart offers not just organic apples, but what they rather carelessly, given their reputation, named orgasmic apples. Where organic apples have no hormones and no antibiotics, a health-conscious choice, orgasmic apples are specially treated with an all-natural Trance-tory misting treatment to enhance the existing hormones found within the fruit, to stimulate the natural antibodies apples carry. As he puts it, the apples are stimulated to naturally plump even in the store, hence the name orgasmic apples.
As far as her job is concerned, Katie is only expected to make sure the misting nozzles don’t get clogged, a regular occurrence since T-mart is such an outdated store with less and less funding lately. The last thing they need is a customer to get spritzed in the face accidentally and cause a problem. But just how harmless is the Trance-tory misting spray? Katie Jensen is about to find out.
When customers meander their way to the produce department, they find a pretty, spirited new redhead employee ready to sell them on buying the special orgasmic apples… but just one accidentally swallowed misting may change everything about what Katie is truly selling, and everything she is willing to do to make that sale.
By the time her father finds out where his daughter is, Katie may have a question no man can be fully prepared to answer… How ’bout them Apples?
